I’m Olivia and this is all about Lark Rose, a flower farm in South Ayrshire near the West Coast of Scotland that I started in my back garden in 2021. I started developing an overgrown half-acre walled garden plot in 2023, and I’m learning every day how to run a tiny business. This week
Things are speeding up, and I’ll be honest, I’m starting to panic. My to-do list at the plot consists of jobs that I think will take an hour and end up taking a day (I’m prone to time-blindness). I’m having to prioritise what will move things forwards most, and in the coming week, that’s seed sowing! Yes, we’ve made it to late March, which is when I can finally start getting aaaall the seeds going, and I’ve taken a whole day off from my regular job this week to spend at the big greenhouse getting stuck in. I’m toying with starting the dahlias, but I know it’ll probably better to hold off until next week at least. There is increasing sunshine here, but it’s still cold and windy out of the sun, and they’ll catch up whenever I get them in.
